Professional Digital Resources For Students Collection

While we're all remotely learning for the rest of the semester and not having meetings, we wanted to take the time to highlight some professional resources that are available digitally. We're planning on uploading and sharing various types of resources that deal with professional development, academics, mental health, and anything else we think of that may be helpful to members during this time. So check this blog out throughout the semester!

We hope these links can offer some helpful advice while we can't. (P.S a lot of these came directly from the Ithaca College Career Services website, so if you want more, check it out!)

Without further ado, here are some links!:

A "comprehensive career guide that will get you started on everything from choosing a major to finding a job and everything in between." This is a large, comprehensive PDF that focuses on career considerations for college students. It touches briefly on a lot of parts of a lot of processes, so if you're curious about something, it can work as a nice starting point.

The IC Alumni Linked-In Network is a fairly straight-forward. Whether you're interested in connecting with specific alumni, or curious where everyone ended up, it's a great resource. And remember, if you reach out to someone: have specific questions!

This is a short and informational guide on communicating professionally through writing. It's likely that this is the first impression you'll have on a lot of network connections and it can be a hard skill to master. This provides a nice example that you can refer back to when stressing about how to word correspondence.

The Park internship and career site has a lot of helpful information hiding in plain sight. In addition to their internship and job databases (which can be a little outdated, be sure to check when they were last updated!) they provide information on scholarships and awards for internships, and information on the Los-Angeles Program open to Park majors and minors.

Video interviews have different challenges and benefits than in-person ones.Whether you had an initially-scheduled video interview or a regular interview that got moved to video, read through this tip-sheet for some preparation help.

If you're a senior like me who has been suddenly thrust into what feels like real-life early, this is for you. This website was created by an Ithaca graduate and chronicles the various phases and challenges of the post-grad life. If you're looking for some help or direction or simply something to feel less scared, give the site a visit.

That's all the links for now folks. The Spring 2020 WIC E-Board wishes you all luck during this weird transition and want you to know we are here to help as much as we can.
